CASA MLP_01

Located in the area of Alcúdia, in the north of Mallorca, Casa MLP 01 is a single-family home conceived within a privileged urban setting, in direct contact with nature. The plot, situated at the intersection of two streets, opens up to a wide panoramic view towards the southwest, a fundamental condition in the design of the project.

From the outset, the project faced a series of challenges linked to the geometry of the site, its orientation, and urban planning regulations that required the use of a pitched roof with traditional Arab tiles. Far from being limitations, these constraints became opportunities that shaped an architectural volume designed with honesty, capable of responding both to the client’s needs and to the urban and landscape context.

Respect for the environment and tradition is combined with a contemporary vision of modern living. The result is an architecture that maximizes natural light, enhances cross ventilation, and achieves high energy efficiency.El respeto por el entorno y la tradición se combina con una mirada contemporánea hacia la manera de habitar actual. El resultado es una arquitectura que maximiza la entrada de luz natural, potencia la ventilación cruzada más favorable y alcanza una alta eficiencia energética.

The house is organized on the ground floor around a central patio. A series of walls, extending from the interior to the exterior, protect the home from the western sun, control views, and provide privacy. These walls also support the pitched, four-sided Arab-tile roof, whose slope directs towards the interior courtyard. The ground floor accommodates the main living spaces, while the upper floor is dedicated to additional bedrooms. Taking advantage of the site’s topography and the difference in street levels, the lower floor houses the garage, with direct access from one side of the plot.

The design integrates both passive and active sustainability strategies: photovoltaic panels for energy generation, heat recovery systems, rainwater collection, and natural ventilation through Canadian wells. Together, these features make the house highly efficient and environmentally responsible.

The existing Mediterranean vegetation, complemented by new landscaping in the patios, strengthens the integration of the house into its surroundings, allowing the inhabitants to enjoy the landscape at all times without compromising privacy.

Casa MLP 01 seeks to merge landscape and architecture, tradition and modernity, creating a sustainable home focused on the well-being of its inhabitants.
